Alternative Image Making

Above are pictures displaying my work on alternative image making . I used a range of media such as chicken wire to construct a 3D hair dryer , hair moose, hair gel , little sticks , shadows and reflection to create a recognisable image.

Home Page on Location

Above displays images that I took for my self directed study on home page on location. We were instructed to choose a film from each of the following categories :

  • Musical ( I chose the Phantom Of The Opera)
  • Film Noir ( I chose Sin City)
  • Documentary/News ( I chose Sky News)
Unfortunately, on the day I chose to take my photographs it was raining heavily and so I was restricted to the indoors. The majority of my scenes were dark settings with minimal beams of light therefore the task was still achievable.

Making Paint From Household Materials

On wednesday the 6th October we were set the task to make a catalogue of colours that we were able to create by only using household materials. I used a range of materials including coffee, beetroot, paprika and toothpaste. Once I had exhausted my options we were instructed to create a quick drawing using a selection of the colours that we had created. For the image displayed above I used coffee and mascara to create the different tones for the photograph I was painting from. I thoroughly enjoyed this task as it allowed me to explore and experiment with unusual products away from the conventional painting material.

Beyond Conventional Drawing Equipment

Above displays images of a task we were to complete making our own drawing implements. I made my implements using a range of canvas, wadding, wire, sponge, a splintered and sharpened stick and cuttings from a mop head.
Once the implements were made I created a catalogue of the different marks that could be achieved by each utensil. This task helped me to loosen up with testers rather than being hesitant to sample new materials straight onto the paper.
